We call it the FAFF- Friends are for fun. Part innocent. Part wild. Part wandering. Part wisdom. For the last three or so years, once a month a group of friends and I have a set time we meet in a coffee shop in Wicklow. We brunch and then take a wander into the surrounding Wicklow hills. There have been times when only two people have showed up, and times there have been thirty. Either way, whoever shows, whatever happens, it is just perfect. It is the way of the FAFF. People bring friends. People bring friends of friends. Through it conversations and connections have blossomed, and new circles expanded. Getting out into nature, out into the wilds, has a way of connecting people to conversations that matter, and no matter what, it is always fun. Today, was my monthly FAFF dose. And it does wonders…

That looks and sounds like a beautiful ritual. I’ve always wanted to organize something like that, but I could never figure out how to accommodate a group that might get so large (but might not). I’ve ended up doing them at home, but then there’s the stress of hosting. Outside of home is much better, only… how do you deal with 30 people descending on a coffee shop?
