Trailblaze goes West | July 28th | Galway Arts Festival

We are bringing Trailblaze out west this week for our final installment in our summer roadtrip and are very excited to be part of the Galway Arts Festival.

Saturday evening is promising good and stimulating things, with a line-up which will, no doubt, challenge, entertain, provoke and prod into what makes us come alive while shedding some light on new potential and possibilities for our communities. Our theme for the night is derived from the wonderful writer, psychologist and holocaust survivor, Viktor E. Frankl, when he writes;

‘Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In that response lies our growth and our freedom’

So with choice and freedom on the discussion agenda, I’m really excited that we are bringing together people with lived and raw experience and I know much to say on the topic. The line up is as follows:

Sunny Jacobs: Author of ‘Stolen Time’, a personal account of her time as an innocent condemned on death row.

Manchán Magan.  Writer. Traveller. Television maker. http://www.manchan.com/

John O’Donoghue. Broadcaster and Activist. Former presenter RTE’s flagship current affairs programme, 7 Days.

Dylan Haskins. DIY Activist, filmmaker and broadcaster. Former independent political candidate www.dylanhaskins.ie

Colm O’Gorman. Director of Amnesty Ireland. Founder of One in Four. Author of ‘Beyond Belief’. Campaigner. http://colmogorman.com

Oonagh Kearney. Filmmaker, Writer Work includes; Wonder House · Her Mother’s Daughters · The Christening · Love At The End of The World www.oonaghkearney.com

David Cunningham. Founder of The Yoga Shala, Yoga4Kids, Teacher, Student , Husband and Father. www.theyogashala.net

Our musical line-up too is looking great including the wonderful Kate Ellis, Laura Sheeran and Linda Buckely, who are now delightfully Trailblaze regulars. Here is a clip of Kate performing at our event last winter in Smock Alley.

And we also have Daithi, who will be taking his fiddle and decks into full flight. A sample of him here…

Tickets for Trailblaze are available from the Galway Arts Festival Box office, and online here.

We’ll also be tweeting with the hastag #trailblazegalway – do spread the word, and then do come along!
